Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Vikram Solar, emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative in promoting India's self-reliance in renewable energy. “Our batteries, built primarily with domestic components, align with India’s climate goals and Atmanirbharta (self-reliance),” he stated. The company collaborates with Entity2 Energy Storage, a non-lithium solid-state battery technology pioneer, to develop scalable and efficient energy storage solutions.

Solid-state batteries offer several key benefits, including enhanced energy storage capacity, minimal fire or overheating risks, and improved performance across varied temperature conditions. With an estimated lifespan of 10,000 cycles and stability at up to 5C charge rates, these batteries promise high efficiency and superior reliability. Using domestically sourced raw materials also strengthens supply chain resilience and supports local industries.

Vikram Solar’s battery solutions are designed with sustainability in mind, utilizing non-hazardous materials that are fully recyclable. This initiative not only reduces environmental impact but also promotes eco-friendly practices in energy storage.
Addressing India's Growing Energy Storage Needs
India currently generates only 15-20% of its energy from renewable sources but aims to increase this to 50% by 2030, according to a CRISIL report. Meeting this ambitious goal will require significant investment in battery storage. Vikram Solar’s PowerHive storage solutions are well-positioned to contribute to this demand, with CRISIL projecting an additional 23-24 GW of battery storage capacity needed between 2025 and 2030.
