Parag Parikh Financial Advisory Services Ltd. (PPFAS) has quietly built one of the more respected names in Indian finance. It all began in 1992, when it started out helping people trade and invest on the Bombay Stock Exchange, later expanding to the National Stock Exchange as well. By 1996, PPFAS had become one of the earliest firms in India to hold a license for Portfolio Management Services, running a scheme called Cognito that catered largely to high-net-worth investors.
But the company's biggest claim to fame came later. PPFAS is the sponsor behind PPFAS Mutual Fund, launched in 2013, which has since grown into a favorite among investors who appreciate a value-oriented, no-nonsense approach to money management. Much of that reputation traces back to its founder, Parag Parikh, a well-known voice in behavioral finance, and today carried forward by his son, Neil Parikh, who leads the organization as Chairman and CEO.
