Since 2001, PNB MetLife India Insurance Company Limited is among the top choices for life insurance providers in India. Originally MetLife India Insurance Company Limited opened its doors in 2001, but changed its name to PNB MetLife India Ltd after PNB purchased a 30% share in 2011. MetLife India and PNB filed a joint application to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on December 7, 2012, and received approval to acquire a 30% stake in MetLife India Insurance by January 2013. The transaction solidified PNB's commitment to build a successful private life insurance company. Their alliance with each other has facilitated PNB MetLife's presence in over 150 locations nationwide by also partnering with banks (e.g., PNB, J&K Bank, Karnataka Bank Ltd) who provide them access to over 7,000 customers throughout India.
